Who Is Tenants Transforming STL?
Tenants Transforming Greater St. Louis (formerly Homes for All St. Louis (HFASTL) is a Black renter-led organization that catalyzes tenant associations and serves as an accountability mechanism for landlords to improve or maintain housing quality. Tenants Transforming Greater St. Louis campaigns for a more renter-friendly policy environment.
We provide tenant leadership development through Know Your Rights and other political training. Additionally, we operate a hotline for renters available 7-days a week for resources and lease interpretation.
We organize to build power.
We advocate for housing justice by helping tenants improve living conditions and holding landlords accountable.
We provide support to renters via aid with various housing issues ranging from ignored maintenance calls to pending evictions.
We are working to empower communities.
We have a slightly different approach because we are tenants too and understand how folks are often left out of politics that directly impact their daily lives.
We exist to build community and provide resources & infrastructure to shape and sustain tenant rights.
We are working to rid the city of slumlords.
Common discriminatory housing practices such as loan denials, higher interest rates and diminished appraisals persist in real estate and negatively impact Black & Brown folks.
These practices fueled by anti-Blackness, classism and a ‘profit over people’ mindset favor corporations and developers and set the stage for families to continue to be disenfranchised.
Housing is a human right!
We all deserve safety and equitable housing. Let’s work to make this a reality.
